Triplet resolution will resolve the triplets but wreck the 1/16 note pattern. Then, for melodic emphasis, every now and then, I write 1/4 notes triplets figures in one of the above songs. EV 16-beat styles work perfectly with this (so do EV 8-beat styles). The problem that arises for me is that I often write melodies in even time (with EV 16 styles) using patterns involving dotted 1/8 notes and 1/16h notes. To be honest, I didn't want to face all the typing! I apolgise for not explaining myself fully in the first instance. But, keep up the great work! PG Music is an awesome product! I know with the many plates spinning to keep this product working as well as it does, there are naturally going to be some features that slip behind in the race. But, for me this process best works in the KISS mode. I know this is probably asking to step back from its progression. Currently, I have to delete the added notes and ties to then insert my rest note. My logic would be just to simply enter the note without the intuitive process interceding, and then make any modifications such as ties to the following beats if I wish to. For example, if you create a note in the second column of the first beat, it automatically assumes that that note will be held until the end of the measure and adds the notes and ties to the remaining time left in the measure leaving you to undo everything in inside the measure if that is not what you desire to be there. One suggestion I would like to add is when adding or modifying notes if the program would not automatically assume that is the only note contained in the measure. I do like the feature of using the vertical lines to slice the quarter note into four parts. I have only just begun tooling around in RB's notation window. It is so refreshing after being surrounded by people who consider reading music to be TABs or chord letters over words written on a Word document! Wow, I am glad to hear this discussion on the importance of musical notation. #FIRST AND SECOND ENDINGS FINALE PRINTMUSIC SOFTWARE#BIAB is different, though: Is there any software that can compete with BIAB? ![]() Those of us who use notation do not expect SONAR to be as powerful as Sibelius or Finale we just expect it will be no worse than other competitive DAW software. We've had much the same discussion over at the SONAR forum, where the notation editing has not been changed in a decade. It's great that Peter has put improving notation on the list for the future. PG Music ads say this about what it will do: "You can print out your finished creation with lyrics, chords, repeats and endings, DC markings and codas, or save it as a graphics file for web publication or to e-mail to a friend." We know there are some weaknesses, including support for true 6/8 and cut time. There can be problems going back and forth, though, such as the MIDI resolution used by each program. I happen to use Encore since I learned it twenty years ago. #FIRST AND SECOND ENDINGS FINALE PRINTMUSIC SERIES#Often it's more satisfactory to use a series of programs that are each expert in one task, like a Sibelius or Finale for notation. ![]()
